Rumi Mohideen has been designing renewable
energy systems for over 10 years. He is aware that the world is
changing and that climate change is now a major threat to food and
energy security. He has worked extensively in forestry and sustainable
woodland management, land management and at one point was estate
manager at the Elder Stubbs allotments in Oxford. His experience in
sustainable woodland management gave him the privilege of working in an
ancient hazel coppice, famous throughout Oxfordshire for its stunning
displays of bluebells in spring.
He came up with the Oxford Eco Build concept as a dynamic, forward looking business, thinking out of the box, out of the normal way of approaching construction, he is an innovator, designer and engineer of a low carbon future. His approach to using renewable energy in buildings is revolutionary and includes the utility of solar, wind & hydro systems to power different aspects of building technologies, for example ventilation.
Before he worked in the sustainable forestry and renewable energy business he was an environmental campaigner and advocate of the reduction in car use, a conviction which took him to the trees and tunnels of Newbury.

Which resulted in him and thousands of others campaigners receiving court injunctions as a result of the Conservative governments attempts to remove environmental activists from the route of the bypass. The above photo is one of the many thousands taken by private security companies employed by the Department of Transport and Costain to "gather evidence" and intimidate the campaigners. Their efforts and expenses were for nought, the Newbury bypass campaign resulted in the government U-turn in road building policy.
Rumi Continues to actively campaign on a number of environmental issues.
